AmaZulu Football Club commemorated Mandela Day by dedicating 67 minutes of community service at Sikhalelumuzi Primary School in Ulundi, donating 200 blankets, together with a collection of pre-loved clothing, socks and sandals, in partnership with Premier Foods and BKYL Security Services on 17 July.
The initiative forms part of the club’s ongoing commitment to uplifting communities and embodies the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s call for citizens to dedicate 67 minutes to making a positive difference in the lives of others, particularly during the winter season.
The visit brought smiles and excitement to the learners as first-team players Siyanda Hlangabeza and Athini Maqokolo spent time interacting with pupils through song, dance and conversation, inspiring the young learners with their warmth and presence.
Sikhalelumuzi Primary School Principal, Mrs N.N. Mcube, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the club’s generosity and commitment to community development.
“We would like to thank AmaZulu Football Club for the beautiful work they have done for us,” she said.
“This school was established in 1998 by a group of young parents, and today we are truly grateful to witness such inspiring efforts from a club like AmaZulu. Through its management, the club has reached out to humble communities like ours and inspired our pupils to believe in a brighter future.”
The outreach coincided with Usuthu’s participation in the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup, a four-team annual pre-season tournament hosted in Ulundi.
