Five years on, and in fitting fashion with the start of another new season, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has once again put its support for the AmaZulu family into motion, handing over a fresh fleet of vehicles to the club.
Among those receiving a brand-new set of wheels is recently crowned AmaZulu Player of the Season, Athini Maqokolo, who was handed the keys to a Mitsubishi Outlander following an outstanding debut season in the Betway Premiership.
The Flagstaff-born forward’s breakthrough campaign saw him claim four accolades at the club’s 2025/26 Awards Evening, including the coveted Player of the Season award.
His success provides a fitting reflection of Mitsubishi’s “Drive Your Ambition” philosophy, with the young forward’s journey representing ambition, growth and achievement.
Mitsubishi Motors GM Product and Marketing, Lerato Nonyane was joined by popular Durban-based automotive journalist Mduduzi Hintsho, better known as Bonabay Universe, at the vehicle presentation in Durban.
“This is very exciting for us as Mitsubishi Motors because our collaboration with AmaZulu is not just about vehicle sponsorship. It is a partnership where we provide a mobility solution, but also share similar values.”
“We are a heritage and legacy brand, and our values are aligned. We are changing people’s lives and making a difference, both for individuals and for the club, enabling them to perform at their best. Seeing youngsters such as Athini perform well resonates with us because, as a legacy brand, we are also passionate about changing lives,” said Nonyane. The latest handover takes the club’s Mitsubishi fleet to seven vehicles, supporting key members of the football and technical structures.
Head Coach Arthur Zwane is among those behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, while Assistant Coach Siboniso Vilakazi drives a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Club CEO Sinenjabulo Zungu-Ntuli is also among those benefiting from the partnership, driving a Mitsubishi Triton.
The partnership extends beyond mobility, with Mitsubishi SA also highlighting its commitment to making a broader social impact. Nonyane spoke about Mitsubishi’s newly launched 150 Kilowatt Legacy Fund, a campaign aimed at giving back to and supporting communities.
The continued collaboration between Mitsubishi SA and AmaZulu FC therefore goes beyond the provision of vehicles, reflecting a shared ambition to drive progress, create opportunities and make a meaningful difference both on and off the field. For Usuthu, the journey continues, with ambition firmly in the driving seat.
