In a contest defined by tactical grit and late-match drama, 10-man AmaZulu FC fought back to secure a crucial 1–1 draw away to Siwelele FC at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The result keeps Usuthu in 4th place in the Betway Premiership standings with 39 points, the dropped points represent a significant setback in their pursuit of a top-three finish.
The hosts, backed by a vocal home crowd, looked the more energised side from the opening whistle. Their persistence was rewarded on the half-hour mark when a precise cross from Gamphani Lungu found the head of Vincent Pule, who made no mistake, by guiding his header past Olwethu Mzimela to break the deadlock and send the home fans into raptures. Usuthu were unable to find a response in the opening period, heading into the interval trailing by a goal.
The stakes intensified in the second half as the visitors’ discipline began to fracture under mounting frustration. Usuthu’s push for an equaliser suffered a severe blow in the 60th minute when Nkosikhona Radebe was shown a second yellow card, reducing Arthur Zwane’s side to 10 men for the final half-hour.

Coach Zwane expressed immense pride in his team’s resilience after the whistle. “I must commend the players and give them credit for showing character. To get a point away from home, more especially playing a wounded team that was in Gqeberha and they couldn’t get maximum points (against Chippa United)” Zwane remarked. “We will take the point and run. I must also give credit to the guys that came off the bench, I think they came in and added value. That’s how we got an equaliser.”
