AmaZulu co-coach Arthur Zwane believes that Bongani Zungu will be a vital cog in midfield for the remainder of the campaign after the veteran midfielder made his full debut against Magesi in the Betway Premiership last Saturday.

In what was a tight knit affair at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Zungu’s powerful long-range effort in the 53rd minute separated the two sides in Polokwane.

Reflecting on Zungu’s performance, Zwane expressed that the 32-year-old’s quality was needed against Magesi.

“Bongani is a quality player,” Zwane said.

“He’s got experience, he’s played at the highest level, so it was a case of us building him up. We knew we were going to need him as time went on.”

Usuthu will now take on Stellenbosch FC in their next league assignment, with the tie scheduled to commence at the King Zwelithini Stadium on the 23rd of January.
