AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has emphasized the club’s commitment to youth development.

The 2024/25 season saw Tebogo Mashigo make his debut in the Betway Premiership under Zwane, having been nurtured in Usuthu’s academy.

The 22-year-old attacker scored a stunning goal against Polokwane City and he ended the campaign with four appearances in the local top-flight.

Zwane, who served as Kaizer Chiefs’ academy and reserve team coach, pointed out that the youth ranks at Usuthu start at U13.

“When you look at AmaZulu as a club, we have many different age groups and we have our structures in place from U13s,” Zwane said.

“So when the young lads see Mashigo play against Pirates, it encourages them.

“The province at large also benefits, football in this province keeps attracting young people to the game and it keeps them away from the bad elements of society.”

The upcoming 2025/26 season could see Zwane hand more youngsters from the Usuthu academy their debut in the elite league.
