It has been a challenging start to the season for AmaZulu, with the team struggling to find their form which led to poor results in their first few matches across all competitions.
Former head coach Pablo Franco Martin departed from the club, and a co-coaching system was implemented with Vusimuzi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane trusted to do the job by the board.
On Tuesday evening, the hard work paid off in the Betway Premiership as Usuthu showed a dominating spirit in their last league match against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, where they won 2-0.
“We tried to make sure that we punish them and expose their weaknesses,” said coach Zwane in his post-match comments.
“I think we executed the plan. The players did very well and we must give them credit for that. And also their tactical endurance during the game when their energy levels were depleted they kept focused.”
Zwane also noted that he was happy that the team kept their discipline, as before the win there was a trend of the team only picking up their performance and quality in the second half.
“I think Ngema’s addition [in the first half], gave us confidence on the ball. You could see before the first goal that we could score at any given time because of the way we were adding numbers in the box, so credit to the players,” he added.
