AmaZulu President Sandile Zungu has announced that Usuthu Day will be commemorated every year on 1 October.

AmaZulu was founded on 1 October 1932, and Zungu’s greatest ambition with the club is to become a South African football power house by 2032 when the club celebrates 100 years of existence.

At the moment, the team is 16th in the league standings and a bold decision was made to part ways with former head coach Pablo Franco Martin and his assistant, Aitor van den Brule.

Franco Martin’s departure was confirmed on Monday evening, and he coached AmaZulu for 15 months. The Spanish tactician wrote a touching tribute to the club following his exit.

Zungu made it clear at the beginning of the season that the club is aiming for CAF competition qualification, and also shared that AmaZulu will invest in a women’s team.

“In the past four seasons, we were probably the best number two. I believe that we have achieved some great things. We believe we have material to compete and we will compete,” he said.
