AmaZulu FC will go toe to toe with their KwaZulu-Natal rivals Royal AM in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday.
Kick-off is at 3:30 pm CAT.
Usuthu extended their unbeaten run to five matches in the league when they drew 0-0 with Sekhukhune United away last weekend despite having been reduced to 10 players.
AmaZulu are placed seventh on the league standings – a point behind fifth-placed Orlando Pirates and the KwaZulu-Natal giants will consolidate their spot in the top eight with a win over Royal.
Romain Folz, the AmaZulu head coach, has stressed the importance of winning their game against Royal after dropping points against Sekhukhune.
“This game is important for us in a sense that three points will get us into a good position to where we aim to be, so we will try to secure that for us and our fans,” Folz said.
“They are a good team and we know we are a good team as well. The only thing I can say is that we want to win that game.
“We know where a win can lead us on the table, so we want to make sure we secure that win and I want to see good performances collectively from the team,” he added.
“So we will do our best. I want to repeat that we are facing a good team that is playing in a CAF Confederation Cup and they are not here by random luck. “So we will make sure that we are the best team on the day and give the best performance.”
Meanwhile, Royal extended their winless streak to three matches in the DStv Premiership when they drew 0-0 against TS Galaxy at home on Tuesday.
Thwihli Thwahla are currently placed ninth on the DStv Premiership standings – level on points with eighth-placed Galaxy and two points behind fifth-placed Pirates.
AmaZulu will be without Ethan Brooks who was sent off during the match against Sekhukhune, while Royal have no suspension concerns coming into this KwaZulu-Natal Derby encounter.
