AmaZulu FC defender Sandile Mthethwa has made a vow following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season under coach Arthur Zwane.
Usuthu finished sixth in the Betway Premiership and qualified for next season’s MTN8, where they will lock horns with Stellenbosch FC.
Mthethwa, who challenged for the league and won several cups with Orlando Pirates, believes that AmaZulu should he aiming higher from next season.
“We’re a team that’s looking to challenge for the league at some point and also go back to CAF,” the 28-year-old said.
“I think we’re capable of that, looking at the kind of players we have and I genuinely believe that we can do that sort of thing moving forward.”
The Bafana Bafana international also pointed out that they have experienced players and a coach who can play a key role in taking the team to another level.
“We have a good group of experienced players that I found when I got here with the addition of Bongani (Zungu),” Mthethwa added.
“We should also give credit to the coach who keeps believing in us and is always reminding us to believe that we can achieve those levels. I’m confident next season we will return a different club.”
The 2025/26 season is expected to start in August and AmaZulu will soon resume their pre-season preparations under Zwane.
