AmaZulu Football Club paid a visit to Zulu King MisuZulu kaZwelithini Zulu at his house in Phongolo on Monday.
The purpose of the visit was to introduce the team to the King as well as to pledge support to the new monarch who was coronated at a kraal entering ceremony held at KwaKhangelamankengane Palace in Nongoma recently.
Club President, Sandile Zungu presented the King with four live cows and a personalized AmaZulu FC replica jersey during yesterday’s visit.
The King thanked Usuthu for the visit and revealed that there is no other team that he supports as much as these giants of KwaZulu-Natal football.
MisuZulu said that it only makes sense that he supports AmaZulu since it represents the Zulus, the Zulu Royal Family, and the Throne itself. Isilo, who is also a patron of the club, said he is proud of Inyokana eluhlazana – which celebrates 90 years of existence this season.
“Thank you for making me a patron of the club. I appreciate the honour and it will stay that way forever. Thank you very much for the wonderful gift that you have brought for me…on behalf of myself and my family; thank you very much. I promise you that the family is behind you 100% and all the amakhosi and the whole nation is behind us 100%,” said the King.
He added: “I know we are going through a really difficult time at the moment where there’s a lot of confusion in the family as to who the King of the Zulu nation is but I think it’s a bit clear now who the rightful King is, so there should be no confusion to anyone at all. I’m behind you 100%. I offer myself to you and commit that I will attend all your big games, especially your home games; I’ll be there to support you 100%.”
