AmaZulu FC will play host to TS Galaxy at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday in what will be Usuthu’s maiden DStv Premiership match of 2022.

Kick-off is at 19h30.

Usuthu are coming off their first-ever win in the CAF Champions League group stage when they defeated Guinean giants Horoya AC 1-0 in Durban on Friday.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants were narrowly beaten 2-1 at Orlando Pirates in their last DStv Premiership game on 23 December 2021 – despite claiming the lead through Luvoyo Memela.

AmaZulu have claimed 16 points from 10 home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 1-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in December last year.

Usuthu, who are under the guidance of Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy, were the first – and thus far only – team to defeat the champions this season.

Meanwhile, Galaxy returned to competitive league action with a 1-0 away win over fellow strugglers Swallows FC on February 19, with Augustine Kwem scoring their goal.

The win over Swallows ended the Rockets’ three-match winless run in the league having recorded two defeats and one draw during their winless run.

The Mpumalanga side has claimed just four points from nine away matches this season and their victory at the Birds was a first away win in the league in 2021/22.

In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Galaxy have met in three top-flight league matches since 2020/21.

Usuthu have claimed two wins compared to one for the Rockets, with zero games drawn.

The Durban side’s only previous home match in the rivalry produced a 2-1 win in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Mbombela Stadium in October 2021, AmaZulu claimed a 1-0 away win thanks to a goal from Luvoyo Memela.
