AmaZulu will be taking on league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership at Loftus Versveld Stadium on Tuesday evening. Kick-off is at 19:30 CAT.
The team has recovered well from the defeat against Cape Town Spurs in the league, beating Royal AM 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup and booking their spot in the Round of 16.
Sundowns are currently in decent form, having recently qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League and also making it to the next round of the Nedbank Cup.
All eyes will be on Usuthu to break the team’s momentum and grab a positive result in the DStv Premiership. The team is currently occupying 10th position on the log with 22 points.
Ahead of the match, coach Pablo Franco Martin expressed that he was not worried despite knowing that it is going to be a tough game.
“We are the underdogs and everybody is expecting us to lose that game but also, everyone was expecting us to lose when we played them here at the King Zwelithini Stadium,” said Franco Martin.
The previous time the two sides met, Sundowns won 1-0 courtesy of a penalty but the coach believes that his team played well and could’ve grabbed a more positive result.
“We will try to do our best. We know our quality and we know that we will be playing away so it is going to be much more difficult.”
“But we are going in with the hope that we will be playing our best football and to get something.”
