Usuthu, Richards Bay to battle for bragging rights

AmaZulu players warming up

AmaZulu FC will battle it out with their KwaZulu-Natal rivals Richards Bay in a DStv Premiership match at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.

Kick-off is at 5:00 pm CAT.

Usuthu were held to a 1-1 draw by Kaizer Chiefs in an MTN8 semi-final first-leg encounter on Sunday as Frank Mhango’s goal was canceled out by Keagan Dolly’s second-half strike.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants will be without Mhango, Keagan Buchanan, and Veluyeke Zulu who are all suspended having picked bookings during the match against Chiefs in Johannesburg.

AmaZulu are currently placed sixth on the DStv Premiership standings and a victory over Richards Bay will elevate coach Brandon Truter’s side to second place if other results go their way.

Meanwhile, Richards Bay were held to a 0-0 draw by TS Galaxy in a league encounter on September 18 and they are enjoying a three-match unbeaten run.

The Natal Rich Boys are placed third on the league standings with the KwaZulu-Natal Derby bragging rights at stake heading into their clash with Usuthu.

The local top-flight newcomers, who are under the guidance of coaches Simo Dladla and Vasili Manousakis, have no players on this week’s Premier Soccer League suspension list.
