Usuthu out to maintain unbeaten run at Maritzburg

AmaZulu FC players warming up

AmaZulu FC will be targeting nothing but a win when they face Maritzburg United in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday.

Kick-off is at 7:30 pm CAT.

Usuthu are enjoying a three-match unbeaten run in the league having drawn 1-1 with Richards Bay away last weekend, but they have drawn their last two matches.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants are currently placed eighth on the DStv Premiership standings – a point behind sixth-placed Sekhukhune United.

Coach Romain Folz’s side will be looking to cement their spot in the top eight with a victory over the Team of Choice and also move closer to the top three teams.

AmaZulu will be boosted by the availability of George Maluleka who missed the match against Richards Bay due to a one-match suspension.

Meanwhile, Maritzburg saw their three-match unbeaten run in the league come to an end when they succumbed to 1-0 defeat to Chippa United away last weekend.

The Pietermaritzburg side is placed 14th on the DStv Premiership standings – two points above the relegation zone and three points behind eighth-placed AmaZulu.

Maritzburg were able to hold AmaZulu to a 1-1 draw in the first round league clash last October.
