AmaZulu FC will be targeting nothing but a win when they host Sekhukhune United in a DStv Premiership match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 8:00 pm CAT.

Usuthu were narrowly beaten 2-1 by SuperSport United away on April 23 as the Durban-based giants extended their winless run to five games in the league.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants are placed 13th on the DStv Premiership standings – three points above the relegation zone, but AmaZulu have a game in hand.

“At a crucial moment, we went to sleep and they [SuperSport] punished us,” AmaZulu interim coach Ayanda Dlamini said.

“So, it has been the story of our season. We concede two goals and then we have to chase the game. We tried to chase and unfortunately, we didn’t get the equalizing goal.

“The positive thing is that the boys are fighting. If we continue like this somewhere somehow we will get it right.”

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune stretched their unbeaten run to six matches across all competitions when they claimed a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on April 22 and it was also their third win in a row.

Babina Noko are occupying the sixth spot on the DStv Premiership standings – three points clear of 10th-placed Richards Bay, but Sekhukhune have a game in hand.

“We’ve got so much to play for in terms of the top eight, in terms of the Nedbank Cup. So for us it’s about getting ready for the next test, which is next week,” Sekhukhune coach Brandon Truter said.

“But at the same time within the squad there is a concern from the technical team, myself included in terms of the amount of fatigue.

“The next week is going to be hectic. We have AmaZulu, then mid-week Galaxy and then we have the cup game against Stellies in Cape Town. So it’s going to be absolutely hectic for us.”

AmaZulu will be without one of their key attackers, Frank Gabadinho Mhango who is set to serve his one-match suspension against Sekhukhune.

Sekhukhune, on the other hand, have no suspension worries, but their club captain Linda Mntambo is likely to miss the game due to an injury.
