AmaZulu FC will be targeting a second successive win in the Betway Premiership when they host Polokwane City at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday.
Kick-off is at 7:30 pm CAT.
Usuthu emerged as 1-0 winners over Golden Arrows away on 26 April and it was the KwaZulu-Natal giants’ second win in their last three matches, while the other game ended in defeat.
AmaZulu are placed sixth in the Betway Premiership standings – a point behind fifth-placed TS Galaxy and a win over Polokwane would boost Usuthu’s chances of finishing in the top eight.
“When you dig deep, when you push hard, you are bound to be rewarded, but we are now live with regrets, so we have two games left, we are relying now on other people to lose,” AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane said.
“If maybe we were not dogged these three points, we would’ve been on 36 and then I would give you the answer and say if we win next week Friday, and then we have Pirates, so it’s not gonna be easy, it’s all up to us again.
“Remember, we played more games than any other team and that alone puts us under pressure.”
Meanwhile, Polokwane fought back to hold SuperSport United to a 1-1 draw at home on 26 April and they are winless in their last three matches, including two successive defeats.
Rise and Shine are placed seventh in the Betway Premiership standings – a point behind AmaZulu and both teams are looking to enhance their chances of finishing in the top eight by securing a win.
“We didn’t take shots at goal, there were instances where we should have shot at goal, but we opted for a pass, but I think it is something that we can work on,” Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe said.
“[It is] just to get our minds ready and decision making proper in terms of shooting and passing. But I think in that one [aspect] we did better, it is just that we needed a score.
“What we need to fix in our team is scoring. If we can just put this ball behind the net, it would be okay by us.”
