AmaZulu FC will be determined to return to winning ways in the DStv Premiership when they host Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 3:00 pm CAT.
Usuthu are undefeated in their last two matches across all competitions having drawn 0-0 with Kaizer Chiefs away in a DStv Premiership game last weekend.
The KwaZulu-Natal giants are currently placed fourth on the league standings – two points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are the defending champions.
A win over the Chilli Boys will elevate coach Brandon Truter’s side to the top of the standings if the other results go their way this weekend.
“Chippa is a team that’s resolute in defence and can also get you in a counterattack,” Truter said.
“So we have to be careful in the game especially in committing numbers in the attack. I think once we get that right and score early a goal or two.
“We will be good to go for the three points on the day.”
Meanwhile, Chippa stretched their winless run to four matches in the DStv Premiership when they lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns at home on Wednesday.
The Chilli Boys have since relieved Daine Klate of his duties as the club’s head coach and the team is currently placed 16th on the league standings – three points behind ninth-placed Swallows FC.
The Eastern Cape side will be hoping to climb out of the relegation zone with a win over AmaZulu, but the last two matches between two teams failed to produce a winner.
Last season, AmaZulu and Chippa drew 1-1 in the Eastern Cape in the first round league clash, before drawing 2-2 in Durban in the second round.
AmaZulu and Chippa will be without Frank Mhango and Brooklyn Poggenpoel respectively as both players are suspended.
