AmaZulu FC assistant coach, Siboniso “Nini” Vilakazi represented the club today at the media launch for this year’s Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup held at the Maharani Hotel in Durban.
The competition will be held on the 29th of July at the Prince Mangosuthu Regional Stadium in Ulundi.
“It is a great honour for us to be play the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup. The most important thing is to make sure that we see how ready we are for the new season. It is part of the preparations.”
“We have a new head coach, it will show him an indication of the readiness of the players that he wants to integrate. The most important thing is that we won the cup last season, so we want to make sure that we defend it as well.”
“We are learning a lot from him as well. You can see the changes that he is coming with in terms of the way he wants the team to play. It is these games that will help us as well because you can see he is trying to introduce his methods and concept,” said Vilakazi.
Zululand District Mayor, Thulasizwe Buthelezi and Prince Mangosuthu family representative, Zuzifa Buthelezi thanked all four clubs for their participation.
The first semifinal match will see first time participants Royal AM taking on Richards Bay FC at 09:00.
Usuthu’s title defence will see them feature in the second semifinal with a bout against eSwatini rivals, Mbabane Swallows at 11:30. The final will be held at 15:30.
Spectators can enjoy the day long football festival for just R30 a ticket.
