AmaZulu FC will start their 2022-23 DStv Premiership campaign with a match against TS Galaxy at the Bidvest Stadium on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 3:00 pm CAT.

Usuthu are eyeing a start to the new season having finished seventh in the league standings in the previous campaign and qualified for the 2022 MTN8.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants have been among the busiest clubs in the current transfer window signing some quality players ahead of the new term.

The club’s president Sandile Zungu has stated that the team’s mandate in the 2022-23 season is to win at least one major trophy.

Coach Brandon Truter has been entrusted with delivering a trophy by Zungu and the club’s board with Usuthu having won their last major title in 1992 – the Coca Cola Cup.

Meanwhile, Galaxy avoided relegation on the last day of the previous season – retaining their status in the elite league.

The Rockets have decided to move this game to Johannesburg as their home ground, Mbombela Stadium is set to host a rugby match between the Springboks and New Zealand on Saturday.

Coach Sead Ramovic recently stated that they are eyeing a top eight finish in the DStv Premiership in the new campaign.

In Head-to-Head stats, AmaZulu and Galaxy have met four times in Premiership matches.

Usuthu have the upper hand in this rivalry having won two matches compared to the Rockets’ one win, while one match ended in a draw.

Last season, AmaZulu collected four points from Galaxy as the Durban side won 1-0 in Mpumalanga, before the two teams drew 0-0 at home in the second-round clash.
