AmaZulu FC will be targeting a Betway Premiership top four spot with a victory over Stellenbosch FC when the two teams meet at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday.
Kick-off is at 7:30 pm CAT.
Usuthu extended their unbeaten run to three matches in the league when they drew 1-1 with Magesi FC away on August 30 as John Managa’s equaliser cancelled out Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya’s opening goal.
Therefore, AmaZulu are placed seventh in the Betway Premiership standings – a point behind fourth-placed TS Galaxy and a victory over Stellenbosch would see Usuthu climb up to the fourth spot if other results go their way.
“Betway is different from the Zimbabwean League. It’s so fast and competitive, and I’m adjusting well. I think I’m going to score many goals,” AmaZulu striker Ngwenya said.
“We’re going to fight for everything, we’re going to fight for a win, fight for our coach, fight for our fans.”
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch are now winless in their last two matches across all competitions after recording a second successive defeat, losing to Orlando Pirates in the 2025 MTN8 final on September 13.
Stellies are placed 13th in the Betway Premiership standings – three points behind eighth-placed Marumo Gallants and they will be hoping to enter the top-half of the table when they lock horns with AmaZulu.
“Obviously, there are things that we can do better and improve on,” Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker said after losing to Pirates.
“I have to look at the positives and make sure we don’t forget that to get to a final is not easy. I believe we deserved and had the right to be here. Unfortunately, we fell at the last hurdle.”
