AmaZulu FC will go head-to-head with SuperSport United in the Betway Premiership match at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is at 8:00 pm CAT.
Usuthu returned to winning ways in style when they secured an impressive 5-1 win over Mighty Eagles in the Nedbank Cup on 28 January and before the cup match, they had lost to Stellenbosch FC in a league encounter.
AmaZulu are placed 10th in the Betway Premiership standings – three points behind seventh-placed Stellenbosch FC. A win over SuperSport would see Usuthu climb into the top eight if other results go their way.
“We are very happy with this result because we were looking to bounce back after being beaten 5-0 by Stellies,” AmaZulu co-head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi said.
“So, we wanted to boost our confidence ahead of our game against SuperSport.”
Usuthu have no suspension worries coming into this match and they will be boosted by the availability of Wayde Jooste, and Celimpilo Ngema who both missed the game against Mighty Eagles as they were suspended.
Meanwhile, SuperSport are also coming off a morale-boosting win as they claimed a 2-0 victory over Magesi FC in the Nedbank Cup match on 28 January as they snapped a three-match winless run.
Matsatsantsa are placed ninth on the Betway Premiership standings – level on points with AmaZulu and they will also move into the top eight if they secure a win over Usuthu and other results go their way.
“I thought it was a good honest performance. I thought there was a lot of commitment in the performance like we always do,” SuperSport head coach Gavin Hunt said.
“It just happened we got a goal or two. We needed that after the last two defeats.”
SuperSport will be without Chad international Éric Mbangossoum who will be missing due to a one-match suspension, while Grant Margeman, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Bradley Grobler are still on the club’s injury list.
