AmaZulu FC will face off with their KwaZulu-Natal rivals Maritzburg United in a DStv Premiership match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.
Kick-off is at 5:00 pm CAT.
Usuthu were held to a 1-1 draw by Orlando Pirates in a league clash at the Orlando Stadium on Friday as Romain Folz started life as the club’s head coach with a stalemate.
The KwaZulu-Natal giants find themselves placed 10th on the DStv Premiership standings – three points above the relegation zone and two points behind sixth-placed Stellenbosch FC.
Folz stressed the importance of returning to winning ways and the Frenchman urged the club’s supporters to come in numbers.
“We prepare for this game like any other, we understand the importance of it, but to be honest in this league every team has its own qualities. So, we don’t take anything or anyone for granted,” Folz said.
“We will give our best just like we do in every game, the end result is always to get the maximum points and that is going to be our objective as well. It is important to get back to winning ways – it is a clear objective.
“We understand that it is a home game and we know what it means. We hope the fans will come in numbers and support us, and we will do our best to give our best performance.”
Meanwhile, Maritzburg stretched their winless run to three matches when they drew 0-0 with Richards Bay in a league encounter at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.
The Team of Choice currently occupy the 14th spot on the DStv Premiership standings – a point above 16th-placed Swallows FC and three points behind eighth-placed Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Last season, AmaZulu collected four points from Maritzburg as the two teams drew 1-1 in the first-round league clash in Pietermaritzburg and Usuthu claimed a 1-0 win at home in the reverse fixture.
