AmaZulu FC were crowned 2023 KwaZulu-Natal Premier’s Cup champions after defeating Richards Bay in Sunday’s final.
Usuthu emerged as 5-4 winners during a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
Coach Pablo Franco Martin’s side emerged as 2-0 winners over Thwihli Thwahla in a quarter-final encounter on Saturday morning.
Goals from Abbubaker Mobara and Augustine Chidi Kwem earned AmaZulu a well-deserved win at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont.
Usuthu then secured a 2-1 victory over a stubborn Maritzburg United side in a semi-final game on Sunday morning.
Sere Junior Dion was in his element as the Ivorian centre forward grabbed a brace while Zukile Kewuti netted the Team of Choice’s consolation goal.
AmaZulu will now turn their attention to the 2023 Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup which will take place on Saturday at the Prince Mangosuthu Regional Stadium in Ulundi.
The first semi-final match will see first-time participants Royal AM taking on Richards Bay FC at 09:00.
Usuthu’s title defence will see them feature in the second semi-final with a bout against Eswatini rivals, Mbabane Swallows at 11:30. The final will be held at 15:30.
