Usuthu Brace for Tough Cape Town City Clash

AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has urged caution as his side prepares to host a wounded Cape Town City at King Zwelithini Stadium this Sunday in the Betway Premiership. City, desperate to end their five-match winless streak, will be looking to bounce back against a determined Usuthu.

Zwane, known as “Phakimpi,” faces off against his former mentor, Cape Town City coach Mushin Ertugral. Despite their opponents’ recent struggles, Zwane remains wary of the threat they pose, emphasizing the need for his team to maintain their strong form.

“I think one of the best games we played this season was against Cape Town City. They put us under pressure and came at us like wounded tigers—you could see they wanted to win,” said Zwane.

He added, “We went there prepared to get maximum points, which shows the potential in our team. It’s all about mindset now. We’re working on that, as well as our tactical endurance, because it’s going to be tested.”

AmaZulu have historically had the edge in this fixture, winning 12 of their last 26 encounters with Cape Town City. Currently, City sits 10th on the log with 21 points, while AmaZulu hold 6th place with 26 points.

Former City defender Taariq Fielies echoed Zwane’s sentiments, emphasizing the need to defend their home turf.

“Every game is important for us. Facing City, we must secure a positive result. With our remaining fixtures, we’ll take it one game at a time,” said Fielies.

He continued, “We want to make King Zwelithini and Moses Stadium our fortress by consistently collecting three points and making it difficult for any team that comes here.”

AmaZulu have enjoyed solid home form this season, securing five wins, though they’ve also recorded four losses and a draw. As they prepare for this crucial battle, all eyes will be on whether they can capitalize on City’s struggles and strengthen their position in the league.
