Usuthu have announced 9 new ‘Warriors’ who are set to bolster the team as they get ready to leave an indelible mark on the domestic pitch and on the CAF Champions League.
New signings that will be part of coach Benni McCarthy’s squad ahead of the new season as Usuthu looks to mount a formidable squad.
The new players include Keagan Buchanan (30), a midfielder; Mxolisi Kunene (29), left-back; Matarr Ceesay (21), a Gambian national playing central midfield; Tercious Malepe (24), a left centre-back; Tshepang Moremi (20), a versatile left-winger; Philani Zulu (28), left-back and Lindani ‘Teko’ Shange (20), an attacking midfielder.
Coach Benni McCarthy remarked: “I am happy with the guys, majority of them are players we wanted recruited. We had to select smart. I am happy with the guys that we got.
Two of the loaned players also came back from loan, Sbu Magaqa (Royal AM) and Tshepang Moremi (Pondo Chiefs). They seem like we have brought brand new players into the team with their quality. Unfortunately, Magaqa got injured in a pre-season friendly match. Both are a breath of fresh air. So, our team is looking good,” said McCarthy.
“Our quest for success is shared amongst all stakeholders and our bond is stronger than ever before. Victory is certain!” said AmaZulu President Sandile Zungu.
The club confirmed the departure of Siyabonga Mbatha, Sphelele Magubane, Talent Chawapihwa, Sphiwe Tshabalala, and Samuel Darpoh.
