AmaZulu defender Riaan Hanamub has given some insight into his time at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted in Ivory Coast, where he featured for his country, Namibia.

The nation qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament but were knocked out by Angola in the Round of 16.

“I think the experience was good. We got our first-ever win, on top of that, we also advanced to the knockout stages which I think is an achievement,” said Hanamub.

The defender went on to say that even though Namibia were looking forward to possibly advancing further in the continental showpiece, there’s a lot to be proud of with the milestones they made regardless.

It is Hanamub’s second season at AmaZulu and he also shared what his thoughts are for the upcoming matches for the club regarding the second half of the season.

“Everything boils down to preparation. The coaches are really working behind the scenes to ready us for our upcoming game against Stellenbosch and we are working hard in training to exploit their weaknesses and to contain their strengths.”

The Usuthu player is confident that the team will pick up a positive result in their next match of the DStv Premiership.
