New AmaZulu FC defender Thendo Mukumela has described his move to the KwaZulu-Natal giants as a great honour.
The gifted player recently joined Usuthu from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Cape Town Spurs where he spent four seasons.
Mukumela, who has represented South Africa at under-17, under-20 and under-23 levels, opened up about how he feels about joining AmaZulu.
“It is actually a great honour and privilege to play for a club like AmaZulu. Everything has been going well, our preparations are on track,” Mukumela said.
“I am a bit shaky at times because when you get to a new environment you must adapt to how they do things and adapt to everything happening there including the culture.
“But overall it is good, once I am fully adapted to the team, I will do well for the team.”
Mukumela is a versatile defender who can operate as a right-back and centre back having been nurtured in the Mamelodi Sundowns academy before being promoted to the first team in 2018.
During his time with Spurs, the 24-year-old made 90 appearances in the second tier of South African football and he netted 17 goals in the process.
