The skillful and creative midfielder was nurtured in the Kaizer Chiefs academy, before being promoted to the club’s first team in 2014. After five years with Amakhosi’s first team, Ekstein moved to Europe where he turned out for Azerbaijan clubs Sabah FC and Sabail FK. He joined AmaZulu in August 2021.
