The former South Africa under-23 international was nurtured in the Ajax Cape Town academy and he started his career in the club’s first team in 2016. Johnson had spells with the University of Pretoria and Chippa United, where he played some of his best football, which earned him a move to AmaZulu ahead of the 2025/26 season.
