Pillay: We have to fight for SuperSport win

Rijul Pillay of AmaZulu FC

AmaZulu FC reserve team captain Rijul Pillay has explained how they can overcome SuperSport United in Sunday’s encounter.

Usuthu will be determined to bounce back to winning ways in the DStv Diski Challenge when they lock horns with Matsatsantsa at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Coach Siboniso Vilakazi’s side will be without several players when they take on SuperSport and Pillay pointed out that they will have to fight for a win in Pretoria.

“We know that SuperSport United have a really strong team this season. They are definitely challenging for the title. It is very tight among the top three,” Pillay said.

“The preparations have gone very well. But there have been some downsides because we have players who are suspended and injured. They are all key players in our squad.”

“The level of experience won’t be the same, but the fight will be even greater when we play them on Sunday,” the promising centre-back continued.

“So having said that we have to be strong mentally than how we were before and the preparations won’t pay off unless we go out there and fight.”

AmaZulu are currently placed fifth on the DStv Diski Challenge standings – 14 points behind log leaders, SuperSport with six matches left.

“For us, we just want to finish as high as we can in the league and focus on the DStv Diski Shield because realistically and technically we can’t win the league title,” Pillay added.

“We don’t mind who wins it, we just want to focus on ourselves and see how far we can go and finish.”
