AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin stated that he is happy and proud that Mondli Mbanjwa has been called up for be a part of Bafana Bafana’s final squad in the next set of friendly international matches.
After having an inspiring campaign in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament where the team walked away with bronze, Bafana Bafana will now shift their focus to the FIFA Series international friendlies, which will be running from 18-26 March 2024.
The midfielder’s performances for the team have been impressive, and he’s caught the eye of Hugo Broos. It’s especially vital to note that he has received the opportunity in his maiden season playing top-flight South African football.
“Mbanjwa is a player who made his debut this season in the PSL and it says a lot about his growth,” commented Franco Martin.
“It’s not only the growth of him, but also the AmaZulu players this season. It is this pride that we share about him but also for young players. We need to know and remind them that their performance is not only on the field but also off the field.”
Franco Martin added the importance of keeping up consistency from the players and it’s vital for them to be called up to the national level regularly as it gives the club a good outlook going forward.
“When you are working like Mbanjwa and these other players, you can grow and maintain this for the future,” he said.
“I’m really happy about the good news about Mbanjwa.”
