Pablo Franco Martin eyes improvement for upcoming season

AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin has stated his commitment to the team, and gave some details about how he feels the first season with the club went.

The team finished the 2023/24 campaign in 11th place with 36 points, three more than the last campaign. The opportunity to qualify for the MTN8 cup was slightly missed with the loss to Golden Arrows on the final day of the season.

Although he feels it is minimal, Franco Martin stated that there has been some improvements since he joined the club.

“This is football, and sometimes the results are not a reflection of the work we are doing on the pitch, and how we’re trying to develop this club and the people around us,” he said.

“This is also an important part of the process. I think the growth is clear for everyone, and how we’ve increased the value of this club and the players.”

Franco Martin also reflected on the fact that players from the team are being called up to the national squad, which is something to be proud of.

Mlondi Mbanjwa and Tshepang Moremi have been involved in the Bafana Bafana set up, joining goalkeeper Veli Mothwa who is regularly included.

“We don’t want to say we finished in 11th and it’s okay, so let’s go for a little bit of improvement because we’ll end up fighting for the top eight next season,” Franco Martin concluded.
