AmaZulu FC midfielder Andile Ngobese scooped an accolade at the recent 2025 Engen Knockout Challenge.
Usuthu reached the semi-finals of the tournament’s KwaZulu-Natal leg, which was held at Kloof High School between 3 and 4 July.
A 2-2 draw with Junior Stars in the opening Group 1 match was followed by a 2-1 victory over Clermont Eagles.
Therefore, AmaZulu advanced to the quarter-finals as Group 1 winners and they progressed to the semi-finals after edging out KZN Academy 4-3.
Unfortunately, coach Andile Cele’s side were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Kusekhaya Academy in a semi-final and they bowed out of the showpiece.
However, Usuthu have a reason to be proud as one of their key players, Ngobese, was named Midfielder of the Tournament.
It was a reward for the teenager’s eye-catching and consistent displays in the middle of the park during the competition.
Some of the AmaZulu players will form part of the reserve team squad during the upcoming 2025/26 DStv Diski Challenge (DDC).
