Veli Mothwa and Luvuyo Memela were big winners at the AmaZulu FC’s 2021-22 end-of-season awards ceremony held in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday.
Luvuyo Memela was named Players’ Player of the Season, Playmaker of the Season and also scooped the Golden Boot having netted nine goals for Usuthu across all competitions.
While Veli Mothwa walked away with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade, Goalkeeper of the Season prize and President’s Award.
Considered among the best keepers in the country, the Bafana Bafana international was also nominated for the DStv Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season accolade for the second year running.
Meanwhile, Mbongeni Gumede was named Player of the Season having been one of the most used players during the campaign – making 33 appearances across all competitions.
Fellow defender Sandile Khumalo scooped the Most Improved Player accolade having re-cemented his place in Usuthu’s starting line-up and producing some eye-catching performances.
Furthermore, Butholezwe Ncube, who is one of the longest-serving players in the current AmaZulu squad having joined the club in 2016, scooped the Usuthu Spirit Award.
Lastly, promising youngsters Lindani Shange and Tebogo Masuku scooped DStv Diski Player of the Season and DStv Diski Top Goal Scorer awards respectively.
