AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin is looking forward to his second season in the South African top-flight.
The Spanish tactician guided Usuthu to an 11th-place finish in the then-DStv Premiership – narrowly missing out on a top-eight spot by three points.
The elite league has a new sponsor, Betway, and it is now known as the Betway Premiership with AmaZulu set to open their 2024/25 campaign with a clash against Polokwane City on 14 September.
Martin has stressed the importance of gathering points at the beginning of the campaign in order to build confidence which will also help the team avoid inconsistency.
“I’m really excited about my second season. We have huge expectations for this season,” Martin said.
“We know it’s going to be tough but we are also confident in our capacity. We know what we’re capable of.
“We learnt a lot from last season. We built something that is starting to be unique and we want to continue building on those foundations,” the 40-year-old added.
“I think the first thing we need to do is try to start the season in a better way than we did last season because we know how important it is to collect points at the start of the season in terms of also building confidence so we avoid inconsistency.”
AmaZulu will be away to Polokwane at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo. Kick-off is at 20h00.
