AmaZulu FC star George Maluleka has revealed the secret behind his consistency and good physical condition in the current campaign.
The veteran midfielder has been one of Usuthu’s most consistent players and he has missed just one DStv Premiership match this term.
Maluleka, who joined AmaZulu in July this year after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns, explained that he had to lose weight to improve his fitness.
“I worked a lot. I worked very hard. I push myself. I obviously wasn’t playing (at Sundowns) and I told myself that I needed to push harder,” Maluleka said.
“With that happening, I ended up losing weight and becoming strong and fit. I was injury prone, but I am not anymore.”
The 33-year-old has made 16 appearances across all competitions this term and he stated that he is putting more effort into looking after his body.
“The last time I did that was when I was at [Kaizer] Chiefs,” the former Bafana Bafana international continued.
“I have been taking care of my body and have realised that investing in your body goes a long way and this is exactly what is happening.”
Usuthu are scheduled to face Sekhukhune United on December 31 in Polokwane as the DStv Premiership resumes.
