AmaZulu FC star Tercious Malepe has launched his own football tournament in East Rand, Gauteng through his foundation.
The Tercious Malepe Foundation recently launched its first-ever football tournament with his former coach Thabo Senong among the guests at the event.
Senong coached Malepe in South Africa’s national under-20 team, Amajita at the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup and Africa U20 Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
The foundation has now issued the following statement:
“The order of the day was to not only launch the foundation but to also highlight and expose the already existing Diski skills and talent in the district of Ekhuruleni,” the statement read.
“Baze’bonke! The community came out at large to support the young boys and as per our motto “where potential meets opportunity” we also had scouts in the crowd, especially invited from prominent teams like Wits and Turfloop developments to not only evaluate but potentially recruit some talent.
“It was a day full of grit, skill, passion and camaraderie from the various teams. The foundation aims to continue to provide opportunities for high-level skills development and competitive success.
“Tercious Malepe and his team would like to thank the sponsors and everyone who came out to support the launch and the boys. The engagement made the event that much more meaningful and impactful.”
Malepe made 21 appearances across all competitions for AmaZulu during 2021-22 campaign which was his debut season with the club.
