AmaZulu FC are set to travel to the Chatsworth Stadium where they will take on Royal AM in the DStv Premiership match on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 15h00 CAT.

Usuthu secured a 1-0 win over their provincial rivals, Maritzburg United at home on April 16, thanks to an own goal from Nicholus Lukhubeni.

This was the KwaZulu-Natal giants’ second successive league victory having claimed a 1-0 win over Baroka FC on April 6 before they locked horns with Maritzburg.

AmaZulu are currently placed seventh on the league standings and a win over Royal will elevate the team to the sixth spot if other results go their way this weekend.

Usuthu have collected 14 points from 12 away matches this season, with their last result on the road a recent win at Baroka

Meanwhile, Royal let a one-goal lead slip when they drew 1-1 with Cape Town City away from home on April 16, having broken the deadlock via Mxolisi Machupu.

The draw saw Thwihli Thwahla extend their unbeaten run in the league to eight matches in what is their debut season in the top flight.

The KwaZulu-Natal side is currently placed second on the league standings – 13 points behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns and four points above third-placed Cape Town City.

Royal have claimed 29 points from 12 home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants in early April.

In head-to-head stats, Royal and AmaZulu have met in just one previous top-flight league match.

That encounter took place earlier this season, at Moses Mabhida Stadium in December 2021, and ended in a goalless stalemate.
