AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin has expressed his thoughts on the team’s first league match of the season in the Betway Premiership.

Usuthu lost their opening fixture 2-1 to Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium last weekend. The goal scored by Thabang Matuludi during stoppage time saw the hosts grab all three points from the fixture.

An error made by goalkeeper Veli Mothwa led to the team conceding the last minute goal, however Franco Martin remained supportive to the player.

“He is our main goalkeeper and he is the only player since I’ve been here who has always been with Bafana Bafana and that’s because of something,” said Franco Martin.

“We need to see if he can get back to his best level as soon as possible. He was playing a good game until that moment.”

Usuthu will now turn their attention to their next match in the Betway Premiership, where they will be facing Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday, 25 September.
