AmaZulu walked away with a 1-0 win over Sekhukhune United last weekend in the DStv Premiership and now catapulted to ninth place, head coach Pablo Franco Martin has expressed what the goal is to finish off the season.

Usuthu are level on points with Kaizer Chiefs who are in eighth place, and Franco Martin has his sights set on the team finishing in the top eight places.

“We need to do our homework. We need to wait for them [the teams ahead] to drop points or if they are winning to win our games with a huge difference,” he said.

Although the coach feels that the team could have done more to finish higher and he is remaining realistic, he showed satisfaction in the improvement of the team and that they will be in a better position than they were last season.

Franco Martin also said that he was pleased with how the team played by performing in derbies and did a decent job in cup competitions this season.

“We need to do our homework. Whether we finish in the eighth or the ninth position we are going to be happy. We are going to be capable of looking at ourselves in the mirror with pride,” he concluded.

The KZN outfit’s final match of the season will be against Golden Arrows, who are placed 11th in the league standings. The fixture will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 25 May.
