AmaZulu FC head coach Romain Folz praised Hendrick Esktein following the team’s KwaZulu-Natal Derby match against Royal AM over the weekend.

The attacking midfielder marked his first appearance of the current season with an eye-catching performance as Usuthu were defeated by Thwihli Thwala in a DStv Premiership match on Sunday.

“I think Ekstein did very well. He was a marvelous player on the field today,” Folz said about the 32-year-old player.

“He was very dynamic and he was good on the ball.”

Folz also indicated that Qalinge, 31, needs to improve his fitness after the winger made his appearance of the campaign during the game which was played at Chatsworth Stadium.

“I think Qalinge lacked a little bit of pace. It has been a long time since him not playing at this level,” the Bordeaux-born tactician continued.

“So for an offensive player like that to get the pace back, it will take a couple of games. But we are still in the process of doing something. I’m not happy with the results,

“But we will be back soon and we will do our best in our next match against Kaizer Chiefs on Friday.”

Usuthu will play host to Kaizer Chiefs at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in another DStv Premiership encounter.
