Tebogo Masuku has become the latest AmaZulu FC reserve team player to make his official debut for the club’s first team.
The promising attacker featured as a substitute during Usuthu’s narrow 2-1 loss to Lamontville Golden Arrows on Tuesday in the final DStv Premiership game of the 2021-22 season.
Coach Brandon Truter introduced Masuku in the 71st minute as he replaced AmaZulu academy product Sphesihle Maduna who netted Usuthu’s consolation goal on the day.
This has come as a reward for Masuku who has been in fine form on this season’s DStv Diski Challenge having netted 12 goals in the competition.
The 19-year-old player netted a hat-trick against Chippa United in a Diski Challenge match late last month as he inspired Usuthu to a 3-2 victory.
Masuku becomes the second Usuthu reserve team player to make his debut in the DStv Premiership in the current campaign.
Lindani Shange made his top-flight debut against Orlando Pirates in December last year as he replaced Luvuyo Memela in stoppage time in a match which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The 21-year-old striker then made his second appearance of the season three days later as AmaZulu drew 1-1 with Chippa United in another league clash.
Shange has also enjoyed a good season in the Diski Challenge having hit the back of the net nine times.
