AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin has given his post-match thoughts on the 1-1 draw played against Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Usuthu came from a goal down in the first half, as Chiefs drew first blood through Ashley du Preez in the beginning stages of the game, two minutes into the first half. Victor Letsoalo would level matters for the team right before the end of the first 45 minutes.
It was an intense match, as both teams pushed to find the winning goal but were unable to take things a step further. The result led to a share of the spoils, and Usuthu remained 12th on the log.
Franco Martin believes that the team was dominating the game, but also noted that the Glamour Boys were well organised and that they did well to contain them in the remainder of the match.
“We are alive in the fight for the top eight which I think is something realistic for the club for this season,” he said.
“I’m happy with that and looking forward to the next game. We need to make decisions in the best way possible.”
“Our intention is to try to collect as many points as possible, I think we don’t depend on us to finish in the top eight but if we get the points then we will still have that chance.”
AmaZulu’s next match in the DStv Premiership will be against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 18 May. Kick-off is at 15h00.
