AmaZulu FC star Ethan Brooks is optimistic about South Africa’s chances of winning the 2022 COSAFA Cup in Durban.
The promising attacking midfielder is the most experienced player in international football in the Bafana Bafana squad which will take part in the regional tournament.
Bafana, who are the defending champions, will enter the tournament at the quarter-final level when they take on Mozambique at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday
Brooks was part of South Africa’s 2021 COSAFA Cup-winning squad and he explained that what helped the previous group is that they all had a winner’s mindset.
“What worked for last year’s group is that we all had a winner’s mindset and that is what helped us clinch the title,” Brooks said on the South African Football Association (SAFA)’s website.
“This current group of players share the same mindset and desire too, and I believe we will do well there.”
The former TS Galaxy playmaker is hoping to represent South Africa at the Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup finals in the future.
“I one day want to represent South Africa in an AFCON tournament and then play in the FIFA World Cup tournament one of the good days,” Brooks added.
The 20-year-old joined AmaZulu from Galaxy last month.
