AmaZulu FC star Jean-Noel Amonome completed a successful international week with the Gabon national team.
The promising goalkeeper kept a clean sheet as the Panthers drew 0-0 with Mauritania in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification Group I match on Wednesday.
Amonome produced two decent saves to deny the Lions of Chinguetti and dominated his area during the encounter which was played at the Stade de Franceville in Franceville.
It is Amonome’s second consecutive clean sheet having produced a top-notch performance as Gabon claimed a 1-0 win over DR Congo in their opening Group I match in Kinshasa last week Saturday.
The two results have left the Panthers placed second on the Group I standings and Gabon are only behind leaders, Mauritania on goal difference with four games left.
The two top teams from the group will qualify for next year’s finals in Ivory Coast with Amonome having represented his nation at the 2021 edition in Cameroon earlier this year.
The 24-year-old will now enjoy the offseason before returning to AmaZulu ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
