Amonome and Bwalya shine for their nations

Gabon's Jean-Noel Amonome in action

AmaZulu FC stars Jean-Noel Amonome and Larry Bwalya were both in action for their respective national teams on Thursday.

Amonome started between the sticks and the towering goalkeeper helped Gabon secure a 3-1 win over Guinea-Bissau in a friendly match which was played in Turkey.

Goals from Aaron Boupendza (brace) and Axel Meye propelled the Panthers to a victory, while Jardel netted for the African Wild Dogs’ at the Antalyaspor Atilla Vehbi Guest Facility.

Meanwhile, Bwalya was influential after coming on as a substitute during Zambia’s 4-2 defeat to Israel in a friendly match which took place in Petah Tikva.

The left-footed midfielder came off the bench to help his side fight back to make it 2-2 by grabbing an assist and a goal with Kings Kangwa scoring the other goal for Chipolopolo.

However, late goals from Emmanuel Banda (own-goal) and Itamar Shviro inspired Israel to a victory over Zambia at the HaMoshava Stadium.

Lastly, Veli Mothwa was an unused substitute as South Africa claimed a 2-1 win over Mozambique at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Thursday night.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper will be hoping to feature for Bafana Bafana when they square off with Angola at the same venue on Sunday.
