AmaZulu FC unveiled their new home and away kits for the upcoming 2022-23 season on Tuesday.
The kits were manufactured by English sportswear giants Umbro and the theme of the fresh and stylish jerseys is Wild Dogs (Amanketshana in IsiZulu).
The theme for AmaZulu’s kits for the recent 2021-22 season was iMbatha and the club’s president Sandile Zungu spoke passionately about the club’s new strips.
“We had Ingonyama (Lion) in the previous season (2020-21) and Umkhonto (Spear) in the other season (2019-20),” Zungu said.
“So, we are using symbolisms and images of the Zulu nation as themes for the design of the kit. This season we call it Amanketshana.”
“We have brought in very good players, but they must be part of a team that works as a collective, that hunts as a collective,” he continued.
“But if you look at the behaviour of the wild dogs there is a clear line of command, it is not like everyone chases, there is one dog that makes noises and moves all over.
“It is an epic scene to see them hunting, so we want fans to say it is an epic experience to see AmaZulu play this season.”
AmaZulu are set to take on TS Galaxy in their opening DStv Premiership match of the 2022-23 season on Sunday.
