As the football landscape in South Africa keeps developing, AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has expressed that he is committed to the cause and adapting to what’s required.

With more South African football clubs investing in having women’s teams, Zungu has stated that AmaZulu will have a women’s team too in the near future.

“I think it’s a cliche now that there’s a great deal of enthusiasm for women’s sports and soccer. And we have given a commitment as AmaZulu that if we qualify for the CAF Champions League next time as it is a requirement — We will own a women’s soccer team,” said Zungu.

In saying this, the president of the club was also reiterating how important it is that the team gets back to playing in the highest level of African club football and qualify for continental tournaments.

“We will allocate resources [for a women’s team], even if the likelihood of a sponsor does not materialise,” he added.

“But it is our singular commitment. We will have a women’s team. We want to get back to being a top quartile team, it must be apparent as the season progresses that these people mean business.”
