AmaZulu were unlucky to not walk away with at least a point as they fell short 2-1 against Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership at the Orlando Stadium on Friday evening.
Two first half goals from youngster Mohau Nkota in the 30th and 36th minute respectively made it difficult for Usuthu to get a grip of the game. Pirates dominated the first half, and were leading by two goals at the end of the stanza.
As the second half progressed, AmaZulu once again went for a late push in the match, putting pressure on the home team. Richard Ofori was on form once again as he faced his former team, keeping the scoreline low as they continued to go for goal.
Unfortunately, it was too late and as stoppage time began, Usuthu were still behind and would need three goals to grab their first win of the Betway Premiership campaign.
In the 93rd minute, Hendrick Ekstein broke through the Buccaneers’ defence and scored a lovely individual goal, putting pressure on their opponents.
As aforementioned, the team left things a bit too late to make a difference and lost out on the points in Soweto, making it their fourth successive defeat in the league.
