AmaZulu will look to close out their 2021-22 season with a Durban derby win over rivals Golden Arrows on Saturday afternoon.
The DStv Premiership Round 30 match will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, with kick-off at 15:00 CAT.
AmaZulu extended their unbeaten run to six league matches when they were held 0-0 at Cape Town City on May 14. The men in green have secured a top-eight finish (thereby locking down a place in next season’s MTN8) but could end as high as fifth place if they defeat their visitors.
Usuthu have claimed 22 points from 14 home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 0-0 draw with Sekhukhune United earlier this month.
Arrows, meanwhile, have gone three league matches without a win, but kept their chances of a top-half finish alive when they drew 2-2 at home to local rivals Royal AM on May 14, with goals from Pule Mmodi and Nduduzo Sibiya.
They are placed ninth heading into this game, level on points with eighth-placed SuperSport United but trailing on goal difference.
Abafana Bes’thende have claimed 16 points from 14 away matches this season, with their last result on the road a 0-0 draw with Marumo Gallants earlier this month.
In head-to-head stats, Arrows and AmaZulu have met in 29 league matches since 2001/02. Usuthu have claimed 12 wins compared to 11 for Abafana Bes’thende, while six games have been drawn. The team clad in green and white has recorded six wins, three draws and five defeats from 14 home matches in the rivalry.
When the teams met earlier this season, at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in September 2021, they played out a 2-2 draw: Arrows’ goals were netted by Knox Mutizwa and Trevor Mathiane, while AmaZulu opened and closed the scoring via Xola Mlambo and Bonginkosi Ntuli respectively.
